“David Mashiane (45) is a passionate heavy goods driver who is has experience in transporting numerous Dangerous Goods products all over South Africa and in Africa; Namibia, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho and Swaziland, to name a few countries.
Since the Drivers score card have been introduced via the Tracking system a few years ago, David has been receiving above 90% + score every month, his best score received was 98.50%, this proof his good professional truck driving behaviour every time he gets into his truck, even when driving in challenging conditions.
David has been Accident & Incident free for the last 7 years, he is an good example for others, who drives the company vehicle safely, which can complete all duties properly and perform well at all times when driving. Recently David saved a little child’s life in Zimbabwe. While driving on the A4 highway in Zimbabwe he noticed a passenger vehicle and some pedestrians on the left side of the road, that already triggered warning signals within him and he raised his alertness levels; the next moment David noticed a very young child running across the road from behind the stationary passenger vehicle and the child ran in front of his truck; but because he already pro-actively assessed what could go wrong he applied brakes, kept his vehicle in a straight line and activated his truck hooter.
With his defensive driving training and years of experience he managed not hit this small child with his truck, he also trusted his vehicle and safety equipment fitted to it, by steering straight and applying brakes to ensure vehicle braked in a straight line. On his journey, he complied with the company safe working standards, to be vigilant and observant by looking further ahead and identify hazards while driving. This was evident on a Drivecam Clip received about this incident.
The company is very proud of David, he extends a warm, energetic personality to our customers and he is highly respected by colleagues, customers and management.”

“We are proud to nominate Jeffrey Maja from the GeoGroup for the #ThankYouTrucker competition. Jeff’s story is a remarkable one. At the age of sixteen, Jeff’s family went through an exceedingly difficult time financially. Because of this, Jeff was forced to leave school to enter the workforce to help support his mum and siblings. Jeff knew that for the sake of survival he had to find a job. Coming from a low-income family, Jeff didn’t have the support system needed to help guide or advise him on his future.
Without any experience, Jeff started working as a gardener in 2004 doing “piece jobs” for a little bit of money here and there. It was during this time that he met Chris McKnight who saw Jeff’s potential and decided to help him. He started by arranging driving lessons for Jeff and aided him in getting his code-8 driver’s license. Jeff was over the moon to be promoted from “Gardener” to “Driver”. By 2008, Jeff was already an asset there and the holder of a code-10 driver’s license. That same year, Jeff was introduced to the late Dave Rossiter who also took notice of Jeff’s potential and offered him a full-time position after Chris and his family moved overseas. Dave saw that Jeffrey was a natural and helped him get his code-14 driver’s license to become a truck driver for the GeoGroup.
Jeffrey is now one of our top code-14 drivers. He is dependable and overcomes any obstacle thrown at him. He also has remarkable capabilities and experience when it comes to off-road driving. We are proud to have Jeffrey as part of our team. He has grown personally and in the business, and he always goes the extra mile with his natural affinity for driving “his” truck”.

“Donald Mthokozisi Mbokazi started at Crossroads in July 2012. He has been an absolute privilege to work in all regions of the company. He has proven to be a stalwart employee and an inspiring mentor to the newly recruited drivers. In 2016, Donald was hospitalized in Cape Town after suffering a severe lung disease. He spent a month in ICU and we thought that we were going to lose him. He persevered and was fortunate to recover.
On his return from the hospital with assistance from his manager, he quit smoking and developed a much healthier life style. Four years later he suffered another blow whilst working under adverse conditions where he lost his hearing in one ear and was then subjected to the use of hearing aid. The KZN business in the last year had sustained major challenges particularly due the physical and natural environment ( Floods, protest action , covid , riots, etc).
This did not discourage or dishearten him from remaining loyal in his services while acquiring a high level of performance in leading his team as the top A class driver with zero incidents and exceptional KPI track records.
Donald Mthokozisi Mbokazi is consistent, takes pride in himself, keeps his vehicle in immaculate condition, and is a “jet setter” in respect of trip turnaround times with a continued focus and adherence to rules and regulations. A true inspiration and Gem in the making.”
“Our company was established in 1967. Enoch started his career at T.H.T. in 1972 (at the age of 21) and will be retiring in December 2022. He is part of the family and grew with the company every step of the way. What an astonishing gentleman and driver. Enoch hardly has any incidents on his file. He drives with caution and operates his vehicle like he owns it.
His assistant, who started here with him (Meshack), makes sure the truck is cleaned and polished on a daily basis. He takes pride in what he does and is eager to always teach others how to operate a heavy motor vehicle. He is a specialized driver who recently (at the age of 71) still moved a 30m long overhead crane on his extendable steerable axle trailer without a fuss.
Enoch has literally driven MILLIONS of kilometers all over Southern Africa in his career. He is easy to talk to, is hands on with the loading and offloading processes and definitely not shy to raise his concerns, whether it is about the load or his vehicle’s performance. 300 Words is not near enough to explain what Enoch has done and means to T.H.T. It will be a challenge to replace such an extraordinary driver.
50 Years of Service…WOW!!! Thank You Enoch! Thank you for letting us be part of your family and Thank you for staying part of ours. Thank you for your service and for carrying our name loud and proud. We are truly honored and blessed to have walked with you. May God Bless you on your new journey”

“Andile Gideon Mdlokovu joined Jowell’s Transport in December 2013 as a General Worker based in the wash bay at Jowell’s Transport now known as Crossroads Distribution at the Montague Gardens Depot. Reginald De Wee, Western Cape Contracts Manager, needed a driver for a De Beers Special from Cape Town to Port Nolloth, Northern Cape. There were no driver available, and the parcel needed to be transported urgently as it was a crucial part for one of De Beers Big Diamond Vessels that operates in the Atlantic Ocean.
Failure to deliver that crucial part could cost De Beers Millions in revenue and Jowell’s could have faced a penalty for not ensuring the part reach its destination on time. Reginald took a calculated risk and decided to ask Gideon to take the bakkie and do this crucial delivery. Gideon not only made a good impression on Crossroads Management, but De Beers also acknowledge his personality and good behaviour.
Gideon obtained his Code 14 Drivers Licence in 2017. He has been in this position for six consecutive years. He joined Crossroads Line Haul Contract as a Code 14 Driver in 2019. The contract come to an end, and he was transferred to the Total Gas Contract. During the summer season the Total work decline and fleet and staff decreased. He gained the opportunity to become a Dangerous Goods Drivers. Gideon had no experience in the transportation of Dangerous Goods, but because of his willingness, can do attitude, and calm persona, he became one of the Fuel Western Cape’s Best Drivers.”
“Alyssa is our only female code 14 driver at our branch. I have never seen such a determined young lady in a male dominated industry. She does her job elegantly and certainly gives the male drivers a run for their money. WE are proud to have her on our team.”
